COVID-19 UPDATE:
As Connecticut has confirmed its first cases of the COVID-19 corona virus, I wanted to communicate to you what I am doing to keep CMS Therapy Group and our clients safe. Specific to this virus, I am following the World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for updates and directives.
The cleanliness of my practice has always been important - with or without the threat of a possible viral pandemic. I wipe down all areas of the office and waiting room with Lysol and an alcohol-based solution daily, and have begun to follow the CDC recommended preventative actions to avoid the spread of the disease. I encourage my clients and families to also follow these simple guidelines:
· Wash your hands with soap and water frequently throughout the day for at least 20 seconds (two renditions of the “Happy Birthday” song works well to keep kids’ hands under that faucet!).
· Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth. Having tissues on hand is key (and then tossing them immediately after use).
· If you, your child or anyone in your family is not feeling well, please stay home and call/text me to reschedule your appointment. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever (100.4 or higher), cough, and shortness of breath. Some people have reported having a runny nose, diarrhea, or sore throat. The CDC has indicated that individuals may begin to experience the symptoms of the virus 2-14 days after exposure. As has always been routine in my practice, I will NOT charge you a late-cancellation fee for these types of cancellations.
In anticipation of the spread of this virus creating a situation of mandatory self-quarantine for this region, I have been investigating the possibility of Telehealth as an alternative to on-site, face-to-face session for those clients requesting this service. As it stands now, this service is offered on an insurance policy plan basis only - with some insurance providers not covering it at all. However, this may change as we move forward and legislation is passed to allow for emergency coverage. I will continue to follow this avenue but feel free to bring any questions you have about this to me directly.
